I want to install a beadboard ceiling on a 14' x 14' exterior screened porch. It currently has a homasote ceiling that is not in too bad shape. Should I remove the homasote before installing the beadbord? I plan on using 3 or 4 inch tongue-and groove wood boards, or should I nail them to the joists that run parallel to the house?
