Rockwell Band saw

I have a Rockwell 14" wood/metal bandsaw #28-300 I am trying to repair. After removing the pulleys and bolts from the gearcase I can't get the cover off the gearcase. I have pried as hard as I dare but it won't move enough to even clear the dowel pins. Delta offers owners manuals and parts as does Acetoolrepair.com but the manual has no instructions for disassembly. Anyone know how to get the cover off the gearcase? I'd be much obliged.
