hardwood floor cleaning after taking up carpet

My wife and i are renavating our livingroom and so far we have been blessed with good hard wood floors through out our home and it was a real chore to clean them and bring them back to their full potential but in the living room has had carpet for many years and during that time it has been changed but we have decided to stay with hardwood all the way but what i have discovered is that the padding has stuck to the floor in a kind of dot pattern and i have used a pledge product with some elbow grease and it seems to bring the floor back to its original finish my question is is there a cleaning product out on the market that will save me alot of effort in my mission because there is alot of floor to be tackled and i dont want to damage the finish but just want something to clean it a little easier if anyone has any tips or info that would be great thank you.
