decking over pool

I'd like to build a deck over a vinyl lined pool rather than demolish it. The pool has a few problems and we find maintaining it too much trouble. Rather than going through the pain of removal-we also have a septic system and I'm wary of heavy equipment - I thought a permanent deck of some sort might be a good solution. Does anyone know of any reasons this can't be done in Massachusetts?
