ceiling vent fan in bathroom

I wish to install a exhaust vent fan in my bathroom but do not what to cut a hole in the roof to install a vent. Can I cut into a 3" plumbing vent stack immediately below the roof and wye into this with the exhaust attach to one leg of the wye? Good or dumb idea? Thanks for any help.
