We have a problem in a 100 yr. old house that has had several renters. Apparently the last renter applied carpeting that was a foam-back type that was glued to the floor. Therefore, when we pulled the old carpet off, the black stuff remained. I got most of the padding off, but there is still dark stuff sticking to the floor boards. How can I remove this? The floor looks like it is in good shape underneath.
