We have lived in our ranch home for three years and every once in awhile we notice a very foul odor in our bedroom and our den. We've checked up in the attic and couldn't find any dead rodents. I am suspecting that it might be a dead mouse or something similar in the wall. The smell is really offensive, like old blood.
It lasts a few days, then goes away. Also, when we turn our built-in ceiling fan on, you can smell the odor coming from the wall outlets.
Would you say this is a dead animal smell and how can we get rid of it without knocking down the wall?
