** Kenmore side-by-side fridge, model # 106.5757779_ **

That model number looks to be missing a digit at the end.

** water started dripping from the water dispenser and made the floor wet. **

Are you certain it is coming from the dispenser and not elsewhere on the fridge?

If so, poor water pressure to the water valve in the back of the fridge can allow water to seep through the valve.

Common causes of poor water pressure is a plugged sediment screen (if installed) in the connector at the water valve, a partially plugged inline water filter (if installed), a kinked supply line to the fridge or the use of a 'self-piercing' saddle valve on the house water pipe or any type of saddle valve installed on the underside of a horizontal pipe.

Only a drill type saddle valve should be used (if not a regular plumbing tap) and only installed on the side of a vertical pipe or the top of a horizontal pipe.

If it was only continuing to 'run on' after use there may be other possibilities and of course if water is actually coming from other than the dispenser...
