It is held in place by clips. The top edge of the access panel looks to pull away from the cabinet at the top. Once released there, the panel can be lifted off the lower spring clips.

Strong finger grips on the edge of the access panel is required, yes. A putty knife might be able to be inserted at the side edge between the cabinet and access panel and then twisted to pry it way from the cabinet.
