I used a recipe containing hydrogen peroxide from the internet but it didn't make much solution so I went to the cleaning supply store in our city and bought a jug of something they swore would work, and it did. Sorry I can't remember the name of it but it was around 50 or 60 dollars for a big jug of it. There is no smell left but I now keep plastic garbage bags on it when we're away. Hope that helps a bit.
