The screw inside the glass is NOT sealed. It would take me Posted by Bruno1949 on October 24th, 2008 06:21 PM In reply to what unsealed adjustment? by Unregistered-lg on October 24th, 2008 05:53 PM [Go to top of thread]
three seconds to get to it and about 10 minutes to find my seals, wires, and the tool to relock the glass. The tools and seals are not that hard to find. Granted the seal probably wouldn't match the one the company put on but it could take years to spot it here since I have a remote readout on the front of the house and the meter is in the side yard.
An adjustment, even inside a glass globe, would almost have to be sealed by the calibration lab. I'm sorry but I don't trust the honesty of the gas company or the electric company. That is why we have checks and balances. An unsealed meter means anyone in the electric company could have just adjusted the meter to anything they wanted. It would, obviously, be set to read high.
Yes, I can see where corrosion could cause the meter to read high but Bobette is talking about 1000kw/month. I would expect fires and sparks somewhere! Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
