used to do this work - WORRY when either pump doesn't activate,,, i'm betting you don't have a lint trap on the washer,,, remove the sump top & clean it - if you've a float pump switch (ping-pong ball in a bubble), that may've gone bad,,, we used zoeller pumps w/mechanical switches,,, just because its 'radon' doesn't add to the system's complexity - it just means the sump top's caulked-in-place so do that when you replace it.
btw, get a lint trap - we used old panty hose & discharged into a stone sink,,, if the float sticks during washer discharge, it sure as **** will stick during heavy rain - its not difficult work - good luck !
