Sounds like something is not telling your dryer the clothes are wet. I seem to remember some sort of sensor that rides in the drum.

Looking at what you've replaced the dryer looks like its telling itself not to light. Would this dryer light with no clthes in it?

Before you do anything costly try and get a look at a manual.
