For 2 very early mornings now, I've been hearing knocking coming from our attic. I know it's not rats scurrying, but an occasional single knock sound coming from various areas above the house (not house settling sounds). The home is less than a year old. We have plastic tubing instead of pipes running through our house for water sources (sinks, washing machine, etc.). During these times, we are sleeping, so I shouldn't be hearing knocking from working plumbing noises (especially since we don't have metal pipes), and it's not cold enough to freeze outside. I thought a pigeon had got stuck up there and was banging into the walls in the dark, but I finally looked up there this morning, and the light had been left on, and there was no bird. Surprisingly, the noise did not sound any louder when I peered into the attic. Does anyone have a clue what this mystery sound could be coming from? It's literally driving me nuts!
