A good spark cable with a bad ignition module will do nothing, a good ignition module (properly grounded) with a bad ignition cable will look for a place to spark. Usually if you have a bad cable it will be visibly apparent. You can check this by using any conductor and grounding it to the module while it is trying to light, if you can't get a spark you have a bad ground or a bad module.
