"was slotted pvc (ads black corrugated pipe in 50' rolls) OR white sewer/drain white pvc used "

The black corrugated pipe is available in both sloted and unsloted versions.

I don't know if there is a generic name for it, other than ADS, or not. ADS is one manufactures name.

And it is not PVC. It is polyethylene. Not that it means much for this discussion, but you can't glue it.

Rigid pipe is available in several flavors. Sch 40 PVC or ABS, SDR 35, and Sewer and Drain.

Except for the ABS they are white or green, at least from the manufactures in this area.

The SDR 35 and S&D are available in both solid or with holes. They are both used for septic fields.

The sch 40 might also be available in slotted, but it is not stocked at the home horror stores.

Never thought about the corrugated, but that would freeze much, much more often then smooth sided pipe.

Each of the bumps will hold water and that can freeze and that will slow down and cool off the next slug of water that comes along.

In any case something that might help, but I don't know if it will help much.

If possible adjust the start stop point on the pump so that the water has to rise higher before it comes on and lower before it shuts off.

That will give you a large slug of relatively warm water each time to help warm the pipe and flush out any ice.
