CO mouth of hot air Posted by HKestenholz on December 25th, 2008 09:12 AM In reply to Carbon Monoxide Lennox furnace by rebelDi on December 25th, 2008 07:07 AM [Go to top of thread]
Yes.
By all means contact the manufacturer; you will apprise them of a dealer that is bad-mouthing the product and also using scare tactics to get you to buy a new heater -
instead of adjusting it to get rid of a bad burn situation
(if there really is one.)
'Dollars to doughnuts' the repairman doesn't even carry a CO meter to find that out. Gas furnaces rarely need to be cleaned as they shouldn't make soot at all. If it is making so dirty, then the unit is seriously maladjusted.
Gas units to need to have their electrical connections cleaned and tightened, as well as have their pressures checked with instruments. If he did have such instruments and wasn't just faking it, he should have adjusted to factory specs and not bother you with his whining.
The manufacturer will lay out the process of getting the heater to run right as informed in the Installation and Operation manual they put in the box with the heater when it comes new, the way they made it to function.
Such statements are the expected rants of manipulative wise-guy 'businessmen' in HVAC since the beginning of the trade.
I would expect such foolishness from oil dealer repairmen who get a commission for new sales, as they have been 'shooting themselves in the foot' for temporary profit over keeping customers for decades now as the oil heat business shrinks from their silliness; however, that doesn't stop people who 'service' both fuels from looking to get some extra for the local sports bar.

Yes, you really have to find out the MAKE and MODEL to get good answers. There IS more than one machine made. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
