The pipe used by the city is not slotted. Im not sure what type it is but it is very similar to pvc. It is some type if industrial pipe that the city installed and it looks like about 4 inch. It came in large rolls and was tunneled underground along boulevard for homeowners to tap into to drain thier sump pumps. Once the city installed it, I had to tap into it. I dug a 50' trench from the side of my house to the boulevard and used a rubber saddle to connect my pipe to the city's pipe. I used 4" schedule 40 PVC and I have a very good slope out to the city pipe. I also put insulation over my pipe. The city pipe is not insulated and is not going to be. The city pipe is what it is and is not going to be dug up or changed.

Does anyone know anything about de-icing salt. Will salt react inside of a pipe like this. Someone told me salt has to be exposed to the sunlight? Im hoping when the pump runs the warm water will react with it and push the salt water down the drain and prevent ice from forming?
