Accessing the lid switch can be pretty involved on that washer design. You can read about what might be involved at the following link:

Appliances of all ages break down. If it is just a simple thing as a lid switch problem you're getting off easy IMO.

BTW. Improper loading of the washer is frequently responsible for lid switch failures. If the machine goes greatly off balance during spin, the lid switch can be damaged. Other things could cause its as well.
