Are Kenmore Power Miser 9 Hot Water Heaters Direct Vent? I purchased this water heater about 1 year ago. It works great, but recently we smelled gas around the hot water heater and had the gas company come out. They stated to us this was not a direct vent hot water heater and we need to replace it. Model number for this Hot Water Heater is 153.339462. The Manual only shows pictures of Roof vented diagrams but some wording in the manual makes you think it is direct vent.
When I purchased this I called the Kenmore sales line and asked the sales person in the store if this was direct vent and they all told me yes. Today I call and now they tell me Kenmore does not make direct vent hot water heaters.
Does anyone sell conversion kits to make a regular vented (Roof) Hot water heater into a Direct Vent (Side of House) Water Heater? I would rather do this than buy a new water heater.
Also cost of direct vent water heaters seems the same as a tankless hot water system. Is this true?
