depending on the size, you could use an epoxy OR, if you determine mechanical reinforcement's better, drill as you guessed & epoxy some pins into each piece.

far's i can guess, the only problem's what size pin, hole, choice of bit, & which drill - percussive rotating (hammer drill) or regular twist,,, the drill selection's important because using a regular carbide masonary bit may not be tough enough for your rocks OR you might want to use the hammer-drill,,, 'cept the shock of the 'hammer' may shatter your rocks,,, darn - forgot this part, chuck - you could use diamond coring bits wet or dry,,, the wet slurry'll stain the rocks & dry bits're expensive.

there's more stuff, too, but i've forgotten lots of it after 25yrs of drilling,,, safe to say, you'll need some spare rocks 'cause the Almighty's rocks don't always drill as we think they should.
