I purchased a timer switch for a bathroom exhaust fan. The brand is Intermatic, and the model number is FD60MWC. The timer switch can be turned up to as much as 60 minutes before automatically shutting off.

The wiring instructions indicate where to insert the black and white wires (white="load 1", black="line 1"), however it does not mention where to put the ground wire at all. There are 2 additional slots on the timer switch that are marked "line 2" and "load 2," however the instructions do not mention these slots at all.

To further complicate matters, when i remove the switch plate from the existing on/off switch for the fan, my existing switch has 2 black wires and 1 ground wire connected to it - no white wire at all.

Can anyone provide me with instructions about [1] what to do with the ground wire and, [2] where to put both black wires in the timer switch?

Thanks!
