I have a Craftsman 1/2hp GDO. Model 41A3493-1. The plastic drive gear is stripped.
I found a replacement 'kit' online http://www.prodoorparts.com/products/166.cfm
I have 2 questions I'm hoping someone can answer:
q1. This is for openers manufactured after 1982. I don't know when mine was manufactured (came with the house), but could have been jsut before or after this. How can I be sure this is the right part?
q2. How difficult is it to replace these parts? (I'm reasonably mechanically inclined)
bonus question: Should I just drop the $180 on a new opener?
