That is not the model number of the opener. It is either the part number of the control board or the maybe the head assembly.

Some openers have their date of manufacturing on the label.

The model number is of the form 139.xxxx

Look on both ends (or sides) under the light lense. Some have two labels with different part of the information on them.

You can also get some idea of the age from the color of the learn button or if it has dip switches.

I have not replaced one, but from people that have that they are not that hard.

There are 2 versions of the kit. Just the gears, or gears and drive shaft and bearings.

I have heard that the latter is better as it replaces more of the parts.
