the stove is made by vermont casting and it is a medium consolidated dutchwest stove model #2478 which i just purchased. i'm guessing from what you say is that the combustion of heat is only going to get hotter when damper is open but doesnt that let a lot of heat up the chimmey? it seems that the air flow inlet would keep the fire hot as in 400-600 degree range?
