I have a bathroom in a house that was built in 1960. The tiles in the room encircle the walls and protrude over an inch into the room from the actual drywall walls above. I say that the tiles which are rather like an inch thick wainscot will have to be removed and the floor will have to be tiled up to the base wall. My wife just wants to put wainscot beaded panels over the existing tile which will subtract another 1/2 inch from the overall floor space plus the jambs in the closet and entry doors will have to be added to and the trim around the doors will have to be replaced. which would be the better way to go on this project bearing in mind that the cost either way would be comparable?
