yes, i primed my wooden cabinets w/kilz before painting and putting on the antiquing glaze b/c they were 30 year old cabinets that had never been painted before - also helped seal any grease splatters etc. that they had b/c they're kitchen cabinets. I of course washed them first w/dawn and warm water.
