I have two Hampton Bay ceiling fans. The factory defaults settings caused conflicts when trying to operate the units from the remote control. It was easy to find the dip switch in the remote control. It is in the battery compartment. However, I could not find any documentation showing me where the dip switch is on the ceiling unit.
In the model that I have (UC7078T), the RF receiver on the ceiling fan is in the lower most bell housing. On this model, three lights are mounted to this lowest bell housing. Don't worry about the lights. There are 3 small screws to remove the bell housing from the main unit. When you remove it, there is an electrical cable that you need to unplug to separate it from the main unit.
Once the lower piece (with the lights) is detached, you can see the RF receiver inside the bell housing that you detached. Turn it over in your hand and the RF receiver assembly will fall out in your hand. You will find the dip switch on the bottom of the receiver.
I changed mine and now the two fans operate independently.
