Well I just completed my installation, and it took us a week! We talked to and used everyone's advice, and nothing worked right, the ground was still not level, with the string leveler, with the sand, with the dirt, etc. NOTHING WORKED except one thing, and here it is......(by the way my pool is 18x4). We had to remove all the dirt and sand that we used to level UP the low side, and get it back to solid ground again. Then we worked on the HIGH side by slicing down (not chopping)until the high side was even with the low side. NEVER use dirt or sand to fill the low side, always work with the high side. When you fill the low side, you don't realize how heavy 6,000 gallons of water is, and when you fill the pool up, all that dirt and sand you just used to fill the low side flattens out to about an inch!!! Seriously. So we reversed the theory and it worked fantastic. But when working on the high side, do not chop up the ground. Slice it! section by section, leaving solid ground underneath. Then use a 2x4x20 with two small levelers taped to each edge (sit it up on its edge, not flat). Place one end of the 2x4 smack in the middle and spray paint your middle mark. Then turn the 2x4 like a clock, and spraypaint your circle of 20 feet, not 18 feet. Whatever size your pool is, add 2 feet to your circle. On the immediate edge of the circle, create an edge all around circle. NOW, FINALLY my pool is perfectly level and on solid hard earth, not toiled or loose dirt or sand. Nothing else worked but this. I have pictures of you want to see them of how the ground should look before you put the pool up. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
