* Your slab is moving up and down, sliding on the pipe. This sliding is causing the slab to rub on the pipe therefore eventually wearing a hole into the pipe.
* I've had three occurances.
* Olshan has installed 63 piers to prevent the slab movement.
* My plumber has also made the hole a bit larger and then installed the new pipe with a gasket between the pipe and the slab.
* The harder one to find was when a hot water pipe was rubbed and a leak developed. I found it when my cold water faucet had hot water comming out. The leaking hot water pipe was next to the cold water pipe and transferred the heat to the cold water pipe.
* My plumber used a stethescope to listed at various points on the slab.
He found that at one spot he heard a hissing sound from the hole in the pipe.
* He jackhammered a hole in the slab and made the repair.
* Good luck... Adios... Jasper...
