i`ve done a lot of decks like this in the vail co. area. none of them have ever leaked as far as i know. this sounds like excellent advice to me. there are protection boards that you can use to protect the membrane from movement as well as the const. process. i like them because they protect from the elements as well as the consturctiion process as well as uv and joist movement.
