Water level and model number???

If you open the door at that point, how high is the water level compared with the heating element?

I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its exact *model number* ("Ultra wash III" isn't it). If you post that information we can at least look it up to see what appliance design you're dealing with.
