Water/burn spots on table

I have heard a mixture for cleaning waterspots/burns from finished wood, such as dining tabels, coffee tabels.

I thought it was
some part linseed oil
some part salt
and some part paint thinner.

Does anyone know the correct amounts or ingreidents?
