DON'T remove the laminate ! You will find in all probability that the cabinet is made of inferior wood or chipboard. Even if it is decent wood removing the glue from the cabinet would be almost impossibe. Try using a heat gun to soften the glue while you pry off the laminate and burn your fingers.
