'Universal' shipping kit

On the OP's model there are just straps that get pulled to release the suspension after shipping. I really don't see how they could easily be put back. Other models actually have braces that need to be removed and could be reinstalled for shipping again. On those models there is usually a kit available to replace them if the originals were discarded.

Unless it was being moved by an appliance professional taking care not to bounce it around much, I would strongly suggest it be packed for shipping. I wouldn't consider a moving company to take that much care with it if that's who's moving it for you.

I hadn't heard of that kit before but checked out their web site and it looks like it might do an adequate job unless your movers were extremely careless. I looked up 4 different shipping kits that are available for front load washers and they range from $35 - $60. So what you paid is within the average.
