Redoing a hardwire on the doorbell

Posted by joanofalltrades on November 1st, 2009 03:57 PM

Okay, here goes. My mother's boyfriend had added a doorbell to the rear of the house. When some electrical work was done, the darn thing wouldn't stop ringing so I told the electrician to cut the wire. This had been jury rigged to hook up with the exisiting system. So the wire's were exposed...not pretty. I pulled it off when the back bell was disconnected. Somehow it disconnected the whole system. The boyfriend had moved the transformer...which I can replace to the original spot in the garage. The old bell assembly is still in place. I had to pull all the wiring out. I'm using a wireless system, which isn't working out too well. How do I go about rewiring for the doorbell without tearing my walls completley apart? This is a single story house, built in the early 70's. I could go through the attic if necessary...Anybody have any suggestions?
