Every time the dishwasher drained to the garbage disposal, the air gap would leak water onto the counter. After removing any downward angle/slack in the hose from the air gap to disposal (which did not fix the problem) we found a little cap at the top of the airgap piece - this cap has two little holes. The holes were on the Dishwasher to airgap side AND SHOULD BE ON THE AIRGAP TO DISPOSAL SIDE! Make sure you turn the little cap so both holes are on the Airgap to Disposal side of the pipe/airgap. Once we turned the little cap the correct way the water doesn't come out any more!!!! WooHoo!!!!
