a snake (1/4 in cable) will get it right through the strainer nothing to take apart unless:

1 you have a single bowl sink with a garbage disposal

2 the trap is a drum trap.

if so then something has to come apart first if a plunger won't get it.

notice i don't even want to mention chemicals.
