Connecting 2x6's to each other?

Hey guys,

I'm building a 2-level riser for a home theater (picture this: http://www.diy-home-theater-design.com/image-files/build-riser-platform3.jpg )

I've built the top platform out of 2x6's and the bottom platform out of 2x6's and now I need to connect them. Whats the best way to do this?

I'm a pretty new to DIY stuff..
