Hi, Jeanene. This is theoretically possible but your chances of success are really low. You have a 30 year accumulation of grease, oil and dirt from the air and fingers on the surface that you would have to remove for the new varnish to stick well. If anybody over the 30 years put on an oil or wax treatment containing silicone, it will not work. I think that your best bet is to strip and revarnish.
