Mr. Larry wood, that is exactly what happened to my Craftsman when one of the sensors got burnt, I believe it was the receiver, and I ended up purchasing the new set of sensors that cost a lot of money here in Costa Rica, I was able to close it the way you say but it will open ok, I believe you should check your sensors to see if both lights are on.
