Hi Linda Love that 51 lime green!! As long as the finish is original and well adhered, there's really no reason to remove it via sand-blasting. Rather, it can be wet/dry sanded out after removing all hardware, scrubbed with a strong degreaser (straight TSP works best) and then etched with hydrochloric acid (with roaring ventillation)...which prepares it for a two part epoxy paint than can either be brushed on (DIY) or sprayed on (usually by bathtub refinishers). Two coats will need to be applied. Once dry, this should give you a bright new finish.
