Hi, Jeanene. This can be fixed but it is a job for a pro. He would probably dig out all the charing and fill with a burn-in stick then sand and refinish. Getting a color match will be difficult if you don't have a lot of experience. I have not seen it so he/she may wish to use other methods and 2" is a lot to burn-in fill. Check your phone book for a Guardsman or other top quality furniture repair company.
