I am interested in installing pergo on my kitchen floor. Current flooring is Armstrong solarian on chipboard. It is 40 years old. The kitchen is right off the main entrance from the garage and gets a lot of use and abuse; pets, small stones carried in on bottom of boots as well as snow and mud. The question is - Will luan underlayment installed right over current flooring be acceptable and can pergo take the stress and beating? I appreciate any advice you can give me. Thank you.
