The answer to your question is "probably not". I assume you are referring to Prego engineered wood flooring. Also, I don't think prego holds up well around water. Ask your prego dealer if their product is warrantied against water damage or from what you describe.
I would go with vinyl and plan on replacing it after 20 years. Its one way to keep the kitched updated. You could go with ceramic tile to hold up to the abuse well, but I personally don't like it in the kitchen.
