I have Pergo flooring in my kitchen. It does scratch even though Pergo says it doesn't. I'm famous for bringing in grit from the yard. Even though it is tougher than leno, I have noticed some very minor scratches. I would NOT put Pergo in under the circumstances you describe. As Ron suggests, either use leno or tile. Pergo is not guaranteed for water damage either and they tell you not to put it in a bathroom.
