You should not need any additional subfloor under the pergo, just their foam for sound reduction, unless you have a crown or peak in the floor that is more than 3/16 of an inch in a 10 foot radius. There is no floor on the market that is guarenteed against scratching, no matter if it is steel, concrete or pergo. Pergo does have a moister damage warrantee, but it is open ended so they can leave it up to their descretion. Any abrasives will damage your floor, try to keep them off the floor with regular sweeping.
