We live on a small island in Southeast Alaska. A few years ago we bought a house the previous owner built out of red & yellow cedar. There is a half basement and for supports (beams) the previous owner used creasote treated logs in this basement area. In the summer when it warms up you can smell the creasote in the rest of the house. Do you know of any product that will coat the logs and diminish the smell? I am also worried about the health risk. It's a project we can only afford to do ourselves so removal of the timbers is out of the question.
