We have a 150 year old house we would like to re-paint. The paint is a mess with layer after layer of old paint. I have spoken to contractors and they recommend sand-blasting and repainting. I am getting mixed opinions about the whole process. Should I sand blast? How long should I wait after sandblasting to let the wood breath after sand blasting? How many coats of primer? What kinds of primers-oil or latex? This is an expensive process and I want to do it right. Any suggestions or reference material would be appreciated.
