basement finishing

Well I have hung 55 sheets of rock in my basement. After my spackler is finished, should I prime/paint first or attach the perimeter of my drop ceiling? I would think it would be easier to paint first so I don't have to tape around the brackets, etc. but I would appreciate other opinions.
